American Idol spent two hours last night “giving back.” Unfortunately, most of what they had to give was crappy. But then, maybe that’s what you’d expect from what was essentially a glorified telethon. (Could Ryan Seacrest become the next Jerry Lewis? Dare to dream, Ryan. Dare to dream.) In addition to an endless string of overdone ballads (No Josh Groban, you raise me up!), we also suffered through some dissapointing comedy, like this bit from The Simpsons. The only highlight was Jack Black’s rendition of “Kiss From a Rose.” Check it out below. The singing–not bad. Kyle Gass crying in the audience while clutching a rose–glorious.
