The three of you who saw Music & Lyrics know that Drew Barrymore can attempt to sing. Further proof will come in her next film Lucky You, where she contributes a song to the soundtrack. Since even fewer of you will bother seeing that film (or buying (or stealing) the soundtrack), you might as well just listen to it here. So what kind of a song accompanies a poker romance? Apparently a boring one. As fun as it would be to rip Drew’s voice apart, it’s not really that bad. It’s just that she’s chosen a shockingly dull song. Drew, can we pick up the pace a little? Or deepen the emotion? Or expand the vocal range? I’m sorry, but I’m afraid you’ve created the vocal equivalent of Vanilla ice cream. And not even, like, French vanilla. Just plain vanilla. The cheap, generic kind they only sell at Shop ‘N Save. (That’s a real store. Travel to the Midwest, people.)
Luckily, Drew doesn’t need to be a music star. I mean, after all, she is officially the world’s Most Beautiful Person. Oh God, don’t even get me started on that one…
