The Bobby Castrone Goodbye Roast Post

On this sad day of founding blogger Bob Castrone‘s departure from BWE.tv Land, we are experiencing a variety of emotions, ranging from unbridled joy (me) to wanton unrequited lust (Michelle) to complete and total apathy (you). During his tenure as the sure-handed (and handsy) editor of this website, Bob helped us grow from a dinky little Vh1 promotional site all the way to the towering behemoth of celebrity blogdom that we’ve become today. For the most part he did this inadvertently, an unforseen result of his steadfast commitment to posting pictures of hot chicks’ racks on the Internet so that he may later enjoy them in an exaggerated, overzealous manner intended to keep his deepest, darkest secret hidden from all the dudes he hangs out with. Just so happened that hot chicks’ racks = massive traffic. But he helped all the same, and for that he shall be honored. Follow us after the jump for pictorial retrospective remembering Bob’s time here, along with more personal reflection from myself, Michelle, and BWE creator Fred Graver.

“To begin with, I’d like to publicly state that the security guys going through Bob’s backpack this morning was a misunderstanding. It just happened to be his last day, he just happened to have something leaking… If you have any other questions, come and talk to me about it — no reason to air our dirty laundry or embarrass Bob any more than he has been. And Bob, we all carry “props” for our “short comic films” that are potentially embarrassing. It happens, don’t worry.

Now… 4 years ago, when Bestweekever.tv was literally just a dumb little blog I was paying for out of my own pocket because I thought, on some weird level, that it’d be fun for people to watch our producers trying to put the show together “in plain sight,” Bob Castrone recognized that this site had real potential — the potential to be a stepping stone to much bigger things. He’s used this blog for everything he could get out of it. Way to go, Castrone!

We’re going to miss you, Bob. You helped define the tone and voice of this blog, you’re a great guy to hang around with, and you’ve got a great career ahead of you.

Now, everyone… Back to work.”Fred Graver, BWE Creator and Executive Producer

“Bob was truly a pleasure to work with. Even when he was borderline-to-overtly sexually harassy, you had to forgive him — because he has a nice face and a great attitude. And on those mornings when I’d come into my office and find a photo of Ice T’s wife in a fishnet speedskating costume on the blog, I’d know it was the affable Bob Castrone’s handy work. It’s not every day you come across a man with not only an insatiable appetite for soft core pornography, but also such a big heart.

Bob, you were like a blog-father to me. Caring, overly nurturing, a laugher and a laughee. And now, the most sincere thing I’ve ever said to anyone: I’m gonna miss ya! Best of luck with everything, and promise us you’ll drop by to guest blog some dumb naked whore in the near future.”Michelle Collins, BWE Blogger

“People always ask me how Bob and I came to know each other, and the answer is both embarassingly lame, yet completely fitting. We were mutual fans of each other’s blogs (he was My Blog Is Poop, I was BlaggBlogg), living on opposite sides of the country (he in NY, me in SF), admiring each other from afar. It was like Sleepless In Seattle, except way more passionate and intense, at least physically. It was one of the great blogger love stories of our time. ANYWAY, unlike most other bloggers I know, we weren’t totally awkward around each when we finally met each other in person in the Port Authority bathroom stall, and thus we became fast friends. When it came time to re-launch the BWE blog, he finally called me like he said would after the whole Port Authority thing, and now I get paid more than I should to think of creative ways to call Jared Leto a douchebag. And for that, I’ll always love the kid, even though we stopped sleeping together months ago. Bob, you are my favorite mistake.”Alex Blagg, BWE Blogger
