Due to recent reports that our favorite daytime talk show might be canceled, we decided to take matters into our own hands. Best Week Ever has created a Save Tony Danza petition in the hopes that we can show those network execs how many people are really tuning in.

Dear ABC Network Executives,
For the past year, The Tony Danza Show has proven to be one of the most thought-provoking and original series on television. As an actor, we’ve seen Tony portray tough Brooklynites named Tony with effortless ease. But nothing compares to his natural talent as a talk show host. He can command a room filled with old ladies just by saying "hey-oh." When it comes to celebrity guests, Tony sure gets his share of A-listers. Whether he’s interviewing such luminaries as Judith Light or a talking parrot, his questions are always hard-hitting. And his on-screen chemistry with regular guest Liza Minnelli is nothing less than smoldering. And you can’t tell me that last week’s special episode, where Tony turned the set into cabaret club and sang old standards, didn’t rate. So why is Tony Danza’s show being canceled? Because it breaks all the rules. The show’s edgy, irreverence when it comes to Italian cooking may have offended some viewers, but it also got people thinking. Isn’t that what a great show is supposed to do? I ask you network bigwigs to trust the people and keep Tony Danza on the air. In this time of flood, war and famine, we need a strong daytime talk show leader now more than ever. Do it for the children. Do it for the children’s grandma’s. Do it for yourself. Sincerely, |
